If you are looking to get some dentistry or other health related work done, one trend which is becoming increasingly popular is to have work done abroad. It can often be much cheaper and some people combine a holiday with having the work done itself.
So what are the pros and cons? If you are living in, say Birmingham, West Midlands dentists are convenient and close to home. If you pay privately the work can be done quickly but this can be expensive. If you do not go privately there can be a long wait.
I have heard of many people going to have dentistry work done in other European countries such as Poland. Yes it can be cheaper, even with the flights and accommodation but there are risks involved. Firstly you do not know if the dentist is a reputable one. He or she may not speak English, so complications can arise from that too.
Foreign dentists are also less accountable than English ones, so if something goes wrong, you may have to have it put right at considerable cost yourself – which negates the object of trying to save money.
I am not saying don't do it, but you should be aware of the potential pitfalls of flying abroad to have your dentistry work done even if it does seem like a bargain.
